Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Field Cost Engineer – Common Distributable for a greenfield mining project. You will lead cost control and reporting for site indirect contracts, forecast spend, review progress claims, and produce cost status reports.

This role supports multidisciplinary teams across EPC/EPCM scopes on a demanding site. The position is offered on a 2:1 FIFO roster to Weipa, with onboarding in Brisbane and transition to FIFO in Q2 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost engineering, budget control and reporting.
• Ability to review contractor progress claims and variations.
• Knowledge of EPC/EPCM delivery is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Forecast cost, analyze data and control costs.
• Prepare budgets per standards and procedures.
• Review project documents related to cost control.
• Review and certify contractor progress claims for payment.
• Maintain and revise contract pricing schedules.
• Input cost data into EcoSys reporting system.
• Support contractors in routine reporting.
• Monitor contractor deliverables and formats.
• Produce cost status reports and flag overruns to management.
• Monitor purchase orders and contract package commitments.
• Assist with budget allocation and cost control for construction disciplines.
