Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Field Cost Engineer – Common Distributable in Brisbane for cost control of site indirect contracts on a greenfield mining project. The role involves reviewing contractor progress claims, budgeting, and cost reporting, with onboarding in Brisbane and transitioning to FIFO in Q2 2027.

You will forecast costs, prepare budgets, and liaise with field supervision to ensure accurate cost control and timely management reporting for project success.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost engineering functions including progress reporting, cost control and cost analysis.
• Proven project experience as a Cost Engineer / Cost Controller.
• Skilled in oral and written communication, with ability to present controls information to management.
• Knowledge of EPC/EPCM processes and start-up workflows.
• Minerals processing plant and materials handling experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cost forecasting, analysis, and control activities as directed.
• Prepares budgets in accordance with standards and procedures.
• Reviews project documents related to cost control of assigned packages.
• Reviews and certifies contractor progress claims for payment with field supervision.
• Maintains and revises contract pricing schedules for works contracts.
• Supports cost reporting as required by the project.
