Job summary

Narrabri Shire Council is seeking a Compliance Officer to protect health, safety, amenity and environmental standards across the Shire. The role combines field work, investigations and close collaboration with residents, businesses and government agencies to achieve practical outcomes.

Reporting to the Manager Regulatory Compliance, you will conduct inspections, issue notices, maintain records and provide education on regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications and/or experience in regulatory enforcement, compliance, public health, environmental services or a related field.
• Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and statutory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to engage with residents, businesses and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Investigating customer requests, complaints and compliance matters across the Shire.
• Conducting inspections and gathering evidence for regulatory investigations and enforcement actions.
• Preparing and issuing notices, orders, approvals and correspondence in accordance with relevant legislation.
• Monitoring and enforcing compliance relating to public health, environmental protection and pollution control.
• Maintaining accurate records, reports and registers in accordance with legislative and Council requirements.
