Job summary

Narrabri Shire Council is seeking a proactive Compliance Officer to protect health, safety, amenity and environmental standards across the Narrabri Shire. This is a field-based role that involves solving problems, investigating complaints and working with residents, businesses and agencies to achieve practical outcomes.

Reporting to the Manager Regulatory Compliance, you will conduct inspections, issue notices, maintain records and provide education on regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulatory enforcement, compliance or public health.
• Ability to interpret legislation and apply regulations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently with strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate customer requests and compliance matters across the Shire.
• Conduct inspections and gather evidence for regulatory investigations and enforcement actions.
• Prepare notices, orders, approvals and correspondence in accordance with relevant legislation.
• Monitor and enforce compliance relating to public health, environmental protection and pollution control.
• Maintain accurate records and reports in accordance with legislative and Council requirements.
• Represent Council in regulatory and compliance matters when required.
