Job description

Are you experienced in civil infrastructure, asset inspections, GIS, or spatial data collection? Join our Infrastructure Technical Services team and play a key role in ensuring Council's infrastructure assets are accurately captured, recorded, and transitioned into service.

As a Field Assessment Officer, you will be responsible for inspecting newly constructed and renewed infrastructure assets, capturing asset information using GPS and mobile technologies, and maintaining high-quality data within Council's asset management and GIS systems. Your work will directly support effective asset management, financial reporting, and the long-term sustainability of community infrastructure.

This is an opportunity to work across a broad range of infrastructure projects, contributing to the long-term management of assets that support our growing community. You'll enjoy a diverse role that combines fieldwork, technology, collaboration and continuous improvement within a supportive team environment.

What we will offer you:
  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Remuneration of $3,210.88 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $3,853.06 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%).
  • Generous leave entitlements, including access to Council's Flexible Working Hours Agreement and MyLeave.
  • Opportunities for ongoing learning, development and career growth.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
As the Field Assessment Officer, you will:
  • Conduct field inspections of newly constructed and renewed sewer, stormwater and related infrastructure assets.
  • Capture and verify asset location, condition and attribute data using GPS and mobile data collection tools.
  • Maintain accurate asset records within Council's GIS and asset management systems.
  • Support capital works handovers by coordinating and validating as-constructed information and supporting documentation.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure asset data meets Council standards.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, designers, supervisors, contractors and operational teams throughout the asset lifecycle.
You’ll be successful in this role if you:
  • Can bring practical experience in field inspections, infrastructure asset data collection, GIS spatial mapping and GPS technologies, along with strong organisational and communication skills. A sound understanding of civil infrastructure, particularly sewer and stormwater systems, will be highly regarded.
We are looking for someone with:
  • Qualifications relevant to spatial information services, civil construction, asset maintenance or a related discipline.
  • Experience using GIS, asset management systems and mobile data capture technologies.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and as-constructed documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data quality.
  • A Class C Driver's Licence and current Construction Induction White Card.
  • Have a strong focus on safety, service delivery, and continuous improvement.
