Job summary

Syndicate Communications in Mount Waverley VIC is seeking a Telecommunications Technician to work on fibre, transmission and exchange network projects, including installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance. You will install and service equipment on customer sites and exchanges, ensuring safety, quality and adherence to customer specifications.

Ideal candidates have fault-finding skills, the ability to read design packs, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be able to obtain a Registered Cabler licence.
• Construction Industry White Card.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.
• Other telecommunications industry licences, customer accreditations and competencies will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction, design and installation packs and complete works to customer specifications
• Install and construct telecommunications infrastructure
• Install telecommunications equipment including routers, switches, transmission and associated network equipment
• Install, terminate, label and test copper, fibre and other telecommunications cabling
• Undertake optical fibre splicing and testing where required
• Carry out equipment testing, commissioning and integration
• Monitor telecommunications networks and diagnose faults and equipment malfunctions
• Undertake maintenance, repairs, upgrades and equipment replacement
• Complete site documentation including as-builts, DBoR, TNI and customer asset records
• Accurately record installed, removed and existing customer assets
• Participate in site planning, pre-starts, toolbox meetings, SWMS and JSA processes
• Follow customer WINS, MOPS, Hazard Permits and site procedures
• Liaise with Supervisors, Project Managers, customers and other technicians
• Maintain a safe, clean and professional worksite
• Comply with Syndicate Communications and customer WHS, environmental, quality and security requirements
