Job summary

IDEA Bio at The University of Queensland is seeking a technical research support role to advance fermentation strategies and bioprocess development. Based at the St Lucia Campus, you will work closely with a senior fermentation engineer to implement experiments and refine workflows in a lab-focused environment.

You will engage in literature reviews, prepare technical reports and figures, and support client engagement and facility administration, contributing to sustainable biomanufacturing

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in biotechnology, chemical engineering or biochemical engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with instrumented bioreactors and bioprocess equipment.
• Experience cultivating microorganisms and performing standard growth kinetics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating bioreactor preparation and operations, including setting up equipment, formulating growth media and using specialist instrumentation for the growth and propagation of microorganisms.
• Supporting the design and delivery of complex experiments and fermentation strategies for IDEA Bio framework projects and collaborative programs.
• Troubleshooting, maintaining and supporting the safe, efficient operation of scientific equipment, laboratory facilities, methodologies and protocols.
• Undertaking literature reviews, preparing reports, graphs, figures and presentations, and supporting client engagement and the day-to-day administration of the facility.
