Meta’s Reality Labs is seeking a Structural Design Engineering Intern in Australia to join the Structural Design & Analysis team and contribute to product development. You will build finite element models, analyze AR/VR designs, and support material characterization under experienced mentorship.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or similar; final-year BS with relevant experience considered.
• Solid foundation in solid mechanics, strength of materials, and FEA.
• Experience with FEA software (HyperMesh, SimLab, Abaqus, ANSYS, etc).
• Strong analytical skills based on first principles.
• Good communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Available for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks of full-time internship and plan to return to degree program after.
• Must have work authorization in the country of employment at hire and during internship.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped structural analysis project end to end from problem definition to final readout.
• Build module-level finite element models to assess risk of failure modes (drop/shock, static strength, thermo-mechanical stress).
• Perform first-principles hand calculations to sanity-check and bound simulation results.
• Support correlation/validation of FE models against physical test data with REL & DVE teams.
