Job description

Step into a genuine career-growth role as Farm Operations Supervisor / Manager with a progressive family-owned cropping enterprise at Alleena, near West Wyalong in southern NSW that meets you where you're at whether you're ready for your first step into supervision or bring years of leadership and management experience to the table.

Due to continued expansion, this established family-owned enterprise is seeking a permanent Farm Operations Supervisor / Manager to join its dryland cropping and contracting operation. The business produces wheat, barley, canola, and faba beans, and provides contract machinery operations and freight cartage across the local area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinery operator or emerging supervisor who is ready to take on more responsibility, build leadership experience, and become a valued part of a growing farming business.

For those newer to supervision there is a clear, structured pathway to build your leadership skills. And for those with experience, real scope to bring your own systems and ideas to a growing business. Either way, this opportunity presents a true seat at the table with real inclusion in the operations and progression of the business.

Reporting directly to the owner, you will be trusted with meaningful responsibility from the start while being supported to grow into a broader leadership role. You will help prioritise, organise, and complete seasonal cropping and contracting tasks to a high standard, with increasing involvement in planning, day-to-day decision-making, and the coordination of junior team members, seasonal workers, and contractors.

This role will suit someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in well-run operations, and wants to be recognised for their contribution. You will bring strong cropping knowledge, practical machinery operation and maintenance experience, and the initiative to keep jobs moving safely and efficiently. Experienced Farm Operations Supervisors and early-career Farm Operations Managers are encouraged to apply.

In return, you will receive a generous flat hourly rate matched to your experience, comfortable air-conditioned accommodation, a work utility, and practical lifestyle benefits including primary and high school bus access. Well-controlled domestic pets are welcome, and West Wyalong is close by for weekly shopping, health care, sport, recreation, and community connection.

WHAT'S ON OFFER
  • Flexible start date from now through to early 2027
  • Generous negotiable flat hourly rate that reflects your skills and experience
  • Comfortable air-conditioned accommodation with school bus access for primary and high school students
  • Work utility provided for role-related use
  • Clear opportunity to develop your leadership skills and progress your agricultural career
  • Join a supportive family business where your contribution will be noticed and valued
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Plan and organise day-to-day tasks so seasonal operations run smoothly and efficiently
  • Operate modern broadacre machinery across wheat, barley, canola, and faba bean production

  • Complete mechanical, machinery, and general farm maintenance to keep the operation running well
  • Help coordinate and supervise junior team members, seasonal workers, and contractors as your role develops
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to high operational standards across the business
ABOUT YOU
  • Confident operating large-scale cropping machinery and taking pride in quality work
  • Whether you're early in your supervisory career or already leading a team and managing operations, you bring sound cropping knowledge and a practical understanding of broadacre systems

  • Experience with grain storage, on-farm logistics, and ex-farm grain logistics
  • Comfortable assisting with fuel, parts, and consumables stock control and ordering
  • Manual driver's licence required
  • Minimum HC licence or ability to obtain; open MC licence highly regarded
  • ChemCert accreditation preferred, or willingness to maintain relevant industry accreditations
  • Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and make sound decisions in a seasonal farming environment
  • Bring initiative, integrity, clear communication, teamwork, and the confidence to lead others when required
  • Committed to accurate records, strong follow-through, and professional operating standards
