We are seeking a capable and motivated Farm Hand to assist the Farm Manager in the day-to-day running of the property. This role is suited to someone with strong operational farming experience who is ready to take the next step in leadership, planning and farm business management.
Working as part of an experienced broadacre farming team, the role will be involved in cropping, livestock, machinery operation and general farm maintenance. We are looking for someone practical, reliable and safety-focused, with farming experience and sound mechanical aptitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with other farm staff to coordinate daily activities, communicate progress and issues, and support the onboarding of new or seasonal team members.
- Operate farm machinery and equipment, including tractors and harvesters, and assist with routine maintenance, cleaning and reporting of any faults or servicing needs.
- Carry out daily tasks efficiently and to established protocols, with attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including equipment usage, crop and livestock observations, and any incidents, to support farm reporting and decision making.
- Take initiative to build knowledge of farm operations and stay across new techniques, equipment and industry developments.
- Adapt to changing weather, seasonal demands and farm priorities, and contribute ideas for improving efficiency and productivity.
- Follow OHS guidelines and farm safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and support environmentally responsible practices such as waste management and chemical handling.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong machinery operating skills, with experience in modern broadacre cropping systems highly regarded.
- Good understanding of seeding, spraying, fertiliser application, harvest operations and general crop production.
- Ability to lead, supervise and support farm staff in a practical, hands-on operating environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond calmly and practically to machinery, seasonal, logistical and operational challenges.
- Sound organisational skills, including the ability to plan work, prioritise tasks and meet seasonal deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work constructively with the Farm Manager, staff, contractors, suppliers and the broader FMS team.
- Attention to detail in machinery operation, chemical handling, farm records, safety compliance and crop management.
- Full driver's licence required.
