Job Description

Farm Labourers - Picking and Packing Todaro Group Pty Ltd is seeking motivated and reliable workers to join our horticulture operations based in Cora Lynn, Victoria (3814). Position Details

Hours of Work

Typical working hours are between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, up to six days per week. Start and finish times may vary depending on seasonal conditions, weather, crop requirements and operational needs. Weekend work may be required during peak production and harvest periods.

About the Role

The primary duties of this position involve crop picking and packing. Employees may also be required to undertake a variety of general farm duties, including:

• Planting, growing, harvesting and packing crops as directed
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements
• General farm maintenance
• Crop maintenance activities
• Cleaning and preparing work areas and equipment
• Undertaking other duties as directed by supervisors

Employees who demonstrate aptitude and commitment may have opportunities to develop additional skills and undertake training in areas such as forklift operation and other farm-related activities.

Working Conditions

This role is performed outdoors and involves exposure to varying weather conditions, including cold and windy mornings, as well as hot and humid afternoons. The work is physically demanding and requires prolonged periods of:

• Standing and walking
• Bending and reaching
• Lifting and carrying
• Repetitive manual handling tasks

Pay and Conditions

Employees will generally commence at Level 1 under the Horticulture Award and may progress to Level 2 based on skills, experience, performance and operational requirements. Current hourly rates are:

• Level 1: $32.18 per hour
• Level 2: $33.05 per hour

Piecework Arrangements

Harvest activities, including picking and packing, may be undertaken under a Piecework Agreement. Piecework rates and arrangements will be implemented in accordance with the Fair Work Ombudsman's Piecework Arrangements Employer Checklist, the Pay and Piece Rates guidance for the horticulture industry, and all applicable workplace relations legislation.

Piecework rates will be set to ensure employees earn at least the applicable minimum award rate for every hour worked, consistent with the requirements of the Horticulture Award and relevant workplace laws. Employees working under a Piecework Agreement will be paid rates that enable competent and productive workers, meeting required quality and productivity standards, to earn at least the minimum applicable award rate.
