Job Description

Our tomato farm is looking for seasonal workers for our 2027, tomato harvest season which begins mid-April for 6 months, ending mid-October. Job location Bowen 30 x casual picking positions available

Start sate approximately 15/04/27 Horticultural fair work award Position details:

The picking team is responsible for identifying the ripe tomatoes on the bush and harvesting by hand, then placing into buckets. Strong physical capability is essential. This work is outdoors where weather conditions play a big part as our region experiences a diverse climate with distinct wet and dry seasons.

As this is a seasonal role, hours and days of work vary depending on the tomatoes and other conditions such as the weather. As crops reach their peak ripeness, there is a short window of opportunity to harvest them at optimal quality. This often leads to extended workdays, with early mornings and late evenings.

Start time is 6.30AM until approximately 3PM. Additionally, weather conditions play a crucial role during this time, as rain or adverse weather can delay harvesting or create urgent needs for immediate action. Because of this, flexibility and commitment are essential traits during the season.

Casual rate of pay in accordance with the Horticultural award (level 1). Opportunities for further training and upskilling available.
