Job summary

Greenmountain Food Processing is seeking an experienced Farmhand for our Coominya operations. The role involves broad farming tasks, machinery operation and property maintenance across a busy rural site.

You will contribute to crop, pasture and infrastructure development while working in a supportive team. Prior practical farming experience and a willingness to operate a range of equipment are essential.

This is a varied role suited to someone with broad agricultural experience who is comfortable operating machinery, maintaining farm infrastructure and assisting with cropping, pasture and general property development activities.

This is a varied role suited to someone with broad agricultural experience who is comfortable operating machinery, maintaining farm infrastructure and assisting with cropping, pasture and general property development activities.

• Current unrestricted Australian work rights

• Current Driver’s Licence

• Previous practical farming or agricultural experience

• Experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery

About the Role

You will undertake a broad range of farming, machinery operation, infrastructure development and property maintenance activities across our Coominya operations.

This is a practical role where no two days are necessarily the same. We are looking for someone who can confidently contribute across day-to-day farm operations and assist with maintaining and improving the property.

Hours

Monday to Friday – 6:00 am to 3:00 pm

Key Responsibilities

• General farming and property maintenance

• Fencing construction, repairs and maintenance

• Welding and fabrication associated with farm maintenance and infrastructure

• Development and maintenance of farm water systems

• Tractor and agricultural machinery operation

• Operating spray rigs and spreading equipment

• Planting and pasture establishment activities

• Hay making and silage operations

• General machinery and equipment checks

• Assisting with farm improvement and development projects

• General farm labouring and upkeep duties

• Working safely in accordance with WHS requirements and site procedures

About You

You are a reliable, practical and self-motivated Farmhand who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining equipment, infrastructure and agricultural land.

You are comfortable working independently when required, while also contributing positively as part of a small farm team.

Ideal Experience

Previous experience in several of the following areas would be highly regarded:

• Fencing

• Welding and basic fabrication

• Farm water systems and infrastructure

• Tractor and agricultural machinery operation

• Spray rig operation

• Fertiliser or soil amendment spreading

• Planting and cropping activities

• Hay making

• Silage production

• Pasture management

• General farm and property maintenance

• Machinery maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting

Experience operating John Deere machinery and GreenStar GPS systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
