Job summary

Castlegate James Australasia is looking for a reliable Factory Hand to join our production team at Swanbank. This hands-on role will support day-to-day manufacturing activities, operate production equipment, and provide safe, efficient site operations with full training.

This is a full-time role with a Tuesday to Friday 10:00am–6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am–4:00pm roster; roster hours may change with operations. Forklift licence and Telehandler Gold Card licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Current forklift licence is required, Telehandler Gold Card licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Complete and record pre-operational start-up checks and standard operating procedures.
• Prepare and produce orders efficiently and within required timeframes.
• Operate production equipment used in the manufacture of stockfeed products.
• Maintain accurate daily production records including equipment settings and output.
• Provide clear shift handovers and work cooperatively with team members.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow WHS and environmental requirements.
• Take responsibility for equipment care and timely reporting of issues.
• Meet production targets and complete assigned tasks as directed.
• Ensure QA/QC, FeedSafe, and HACCP documentation is completed accurately.

Job description

Castlegate James is looking for a reliable and motivated Factory Hand to join our production team at Swanbank. This is a great opportunity to be part of Australasia’s largest co-product stockfeed business and contribute to the production of high-quality stockfeed products.

In this hands-on role, you will assist with day-to-day manufacturing activities, operate production equipment, and support safe, efficient site operations. Previous plant operation experience is not essential, as full training will be provided across the role.

This is a full-time role, working Tuesday to Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Please note that roster hours may change in line with operational requirements.

We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic, dependable, safety-focused, and willing to learn. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment, managing multiple tasks, working as part of a team, and taking ownership of your work and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete and accurately record pre-operational start-up checks and standard operating procedures
• Prepare and produce orders efficiently, cost-effectively, and within required timeframes
• Operate production equipment used in the manufacture of stockfeed products
• Maintain accurate daily production records, including equipment settings, output, downtime, waste, rework, and maintenance or operational issues
• Provide clear and effective shift handovers
• Work cooperatively with team members to meet production requirements
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment
• Follow all Workplace Health and Safety and environmental requirements
• Take responsibility for equipment care, safe operation, and timely reporting of any issues
• Meet production targets and complete assigned tasks as directed
• Ensure QA/QC, FeedSafe, and HACCP documentation is completed accurately throughout the production process

About You

• Strong awareness of, and commitment to, workplace safety
• Current forklift licence required
• Telehandler Gold Card licence is essential
• Mechanical aptitude and a practical approach to problem solving
• Willingness to perform manual labour as required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
