Job summary

NEXTDC is a leading Australian data centre company with ASX 100 listing and 17 data centres. We are seeking a Facility Manager to own day-to-day operations, lead a high-performing team of facilities professionals and contractors, and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient data centre operations.

You will partner with Sales, Service Delivery, and Customer Operations to deliver outstanding customer experiences.

Qualifications

  • Experience in data centre operations or other critical environments.
  • 4–6 years’ experience in data centre facilities or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with uptime standards.
  • Exposure to Design & Build projects.
  • Engineering degree or related discipline desirable.
  • Trade qualifications in electrical/mechanical highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the data centre and manage facilities teams and contractors.
  • Ensure safety, reliability, and compliance of critical electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with Customer Operations, Sales, and Service Delivery to achieve excellent customer outcomes.
  • Own Facility Rules and ensure compliance across customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee maintenance contracts and service providers and ensure WHS standards.
  • Identify and resolve facility issues and coordinate testing and certification for infrastructure.
  • Provide operational insights to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Build relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Mentor and develop Facilities team members for high engagement.
  • Support risk management through site risk registers and controls.
  • Promote security awareness and preventive actions.

Job Description

As our Facility Manager, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day operations of a NEXTDC facility, leading a high-performing team of facilities professionals and contractors while ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our world-class data centre environment.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the daily operations of the data centre, including facilities teams, contractors, maintenance programs, and the safe operation of critical electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all site asset incidents are effectively managed, reported, and escalated in line with NEXTDC policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Customer Operations, Sales, and Service Delivery teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences, seamless provisioning, and successful customer and carrier installations.
  • Own and champion Facility Rules, ensuring compliance across customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage maintenance contracts and service providers while ensuring the highest standards of workplace health, safety, and operational compliance.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve facility issues quickly while coordinating testing, documentation, and certification requirements for critical infrastructure.
  • Prepare operational insights and recommendations that improve technical performance, reliability, efficiency, and customer outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop Facilities team members to create a highly engaged, safety-focused, and high-performing workforce.
  • Support risk identification and mitigation through effective management of site risk registers, controls, and operational procedures.
  • Promote a strong culture of security awareness, ensuring incidents are appropriately managed and preventative actions are implemented.
  • Drive continuous improvement through ongoing performance conversations and development aligned with NEXTDC’s Competency Framework and Facility Management Technical Competency Framework.
Qualifications
  • Strong experience in data centre operations or other critical environments, with deep
  • 4–6 years’ experience working in data centre facilities or a comparable critical environment.
  • Experience with Uptime Institute standards.
  • Exposure to project management, design, and construction (Design & Build) environments.
  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Candidates with an Electrical or Mechanical trade qualification or strong trade background will be highly regarded.
