Job summary

Ventia has been engaged to provide facilities management services at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct in Victoria. We are seeking a motivated Trade Assistant Level 1 to join our team, working alongside qualified tradespeople to support planned, preventative and reactive maintenance that keeps the facility safe and operational.

This role offers hands-on experience across building services, with on‑the‑job training and a clear pathway to Trade Assistant Level 2 after 12 months, subject to

Qualifications

• A positive attitude and strong work ethic and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Previous labouring, maintenance or trade assistant experience (desirable).
• Current unrestricted driver's licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

• Completing basic inspections of facilities, assets and equipment.
• Assisting tradespersons with preventative and reactive maintenance works.
• Performing general labouring and maintenance support activities.
• Undertaking maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Assisting with minor maintenance and repair works within competency levels.
• Moving materials, tools and equipment across site.
• Completing work orders and documentation as required.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, hazards and defects.
• Supporting contractors and other maintenance personnel on site.
• Maintaining compliance with all Ventia, DJCS and safety requirements.
• Contributing to a safe, professional and customer-focused workplace.
