Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Trade Assistant Level 1 at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct in Victoria, Australia. You will support licensed tradespeople with maintenance and routine tasks to keep facilities safe and operational.

The role offers structured training, a clear progression path to Trade Assistant Level 2 after 12 months, and a stable full-time position under an enterprise agreement.

Qualifications

• Team player with strong work ethic.
• Good communication and willingness to learn.
• Previous labouring, maintenance or trade assistant experience (desirable).
• Current unrestricted driver's licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

• Completing basic inspections of facilities, assets and equipment.
• Assisting tradespersons with preventative and reactive maintenance works.
• Performing general labouring and maintenance support activities.
• Undertaking maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Assisting with minor maintenance and repair works within competency levels.
• Moving materials, tools and equipment across site.
• Completing work orders and documentation as required.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, hazards and defects.
• Supporting contractors and other maintenance personnel on site.
• Maintaining compliance with all Ventia, DJCS and safety requirements.

About The Role

Ventia has been engaged by the Victorian Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) to provide integrated facility management and maintenance services across critical government infrastructure.

We are seeking a motivated Trade Assistant Level 1 to join our team at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct. Working alongside qualified tradespeople and maintenance professionals, you will support the delivery of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance services that help keep the facility safe, secure and operational.
