Job summary

Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach is seeking a hands-on Maintenance/Facilities Assistant to support preventative maintenance, pool operations, and general handyman tasks across guest rooms and public areas.

You will perform light painting, light bulb replacement, room inspections, and safety checks while adhering to codes and standards. A flexible roster including afternoons and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance or trade experience across general engineering, handyman, or facilities tasks.
• Solid administrative and clerical skills, with computer literacy to support departmental record-keeping.
• Sound knowledge of safe manual handling and workplace health and safety practices.
• A proactive, can-do attitude with a strong eye for detail.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including afternoons and weekends.
• The physical capability to meet the demands of the role (standing, walking, lifting, climbing, and intermittent chemical handling).
• A genuine commitment to growth and development within the Sofitel brand.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventative maintenance, Rooms Maintenance programs, and swimming pool procedures, including backwashing of filters.
• Complete daily pool chemistry readings and assist with water treatment chemical monitoring and dosage.
• Carry out handyman and maintenance tasks across guest rooms, front of house, and back of house areas.
• Replace light bulbs and perform limited painting tasks as required.
• Complete room inspection and daily inspection checklists as scheduled.
• Isolate/de-isolate smoke detectors and complete Vingcard/Elsafe lock reads and re-programming.
• Clean plant rooms and ensure all works are carried out to applicable codes and standards.
• Assist with departmental clerical duties , with tasks determined on a weekly basis.
• Complete jobs registered on the TRITON works system, ensuring all guestrooms receive maintenance three times per year.
• Carry out shift duties, including afternoon and weekend work.
• Show attention to detail in all tasks performed.
