Job summary

Xavier Knight Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd is seeking a Façade Engineer to join our Sydney team and lead design and evaluation of complex facade projects for high-profile clients.

You will deliver detailed façade designs, review drawings, and engage with architects, engineers and builders to ensure лучший outcomes. The role offers growth, diverse projects and a flexible work approach within a boutique, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of Façade engineering design experience.
• High attention to detail and motivation to advance technical skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-profile projects from concept to completion, applying technical skills to design complex engineering problems.
• Carry out design engineering for Façade and steel.
• Review contractor shop drawings and calculations.
• Attend inspections during construction, installation and fabrication of facades.
• Use ACAD, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Use FEA software (e.g., Strand 7, SAP2000) for simulations and design documents.
• Develop complex analysis models and calculations with high precision.
• Produce technical reports and concepts adding value to projects.
• Represent XK and manage relationships with architects, consultants, PMs and builders.

Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Manage high-profile projects from concept to completion, applying and developing your technical skills to creatively tackle complex engineering problems, delivering high-quality and detailed designs
• Carrying out design engineering for Façade and steel
• Reviewing contractor shop drawings and calculations
• Attending inspections during construction, installation and fabrication of facades
• ACAD, Word, Excel and Outlook
• Use computer-assisted Façade engineering and design software and equipment for simulation purposes and to prepare engineering design documents; Finite Element Analysis Software (Strand 7, SAP2000, etc.)
• Developing complex analysis models and preparing calculations with high precision and accuracy
• Producing technical reports and developing concepts that add value to a project
• Representing XK, you will manage and develop valuable relationships with project partners, including architects, consultants, project managers and builders.

As a Façade Engineer, you have a demonstrated experience in the following:

• New build facade performance design and specification
• Providing advice to glazing contractors regarding facade detailing and performance
• Conduct façade performance mock-up test unit inspection to assist clients in meeting the Australian Standards
• Conduct independent calculation and shop drawing peer review

Building Envelope design

• Technical due diligence assessments and design for building envelopes
• Building weatherproofing and waterproofing

New build Façade Construction

• Site inspections and condition assessments
• Preparation of inspection reports

Façade remediation – preferred but not essential.

• Façade replacement
• Diagnostic inspections/investigation and condition assessments
• Structural assessments and diagnosis of existing buildings

• Minimum 3 years of Façade engineering design experience within an engineering consultancy

• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
• Having the ability to undertake Façade thermal analysis and condensation risk assessment would be advantageous.
