Job summary

Boswen in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Fabricator Welder to join our manufacturing team. You will weld and fabricate fencing systems, gates and custom metalwork, reading engineering drawings and delivering high-quality workmanship.

Join a hands-on, safety-conscious team and work with carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium. A trade qualification and a valid driver's licence are preferred. This is a full-time role in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in fabrication and welding, ideally Certificate III or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding and fabrication of fencing systems, gates and custom metalwork.
• Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Fabricate and weld carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium components.
• Work with sheet, plate, tube and steel sections in various positions and orientations.
• Assemble, tack weld and complete fabrication components to required specifications.
• Complete allocated fabrication tasks on time and to the required quality standards.
• Maintain accurate measurements and dimensional tolerances.
• Follow relevant Australian and international welding standards.
• Operate fabrication tools, machinery and equipment safely.
• Work closely with the manufacturing team to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE and safe lifting techniques.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a skilled and reliable Fabricator Welder to join our manufacturing team in Melbourne.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Fabricator Welder to carry out high-quality welding and fabrication work across our range of products, including fencing systems, gates, custom metalworks and general steel fabrication.

The successful candidate will be confident working with carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium, with the ability to read engineering drawings, work independently and deliver quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out welding and fabrication of fencing systems, gates and custom metalwork.

Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

Fabricate and weld carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium components.

Work with sheet, plate, tube and steel sections in various positions and orientations.

Assemble, tack weld and complete fabrication components to required specifications.

Skills and Experience

Previous experience in metal fabrication and welding.

Trade qualification in fabrication and welding, ideally Certificate III or equivalent.

Ability to read and understand engineering and fabrication drawings.

Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

Good understanding of welding techniques, fabrication processes and quality standards.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication, organisation and time management skills.

Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on fabrication duties.

Current driver's licence.

Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious.

Highly Regarded:

Construction Industry White Card.

Commercial vehicle or dogging licence.

Experience in fencing, gates, structural steel or custom metalwork fabrication.

Understanding of manufacturing planning and production schedules.
