Job summary

Melbourne Fire Doors Pty Ltd, based in Springvale, Victoria, is looking for a hands-on welder with MIG welding and fabrication experience for a full-time permanent role. You will be motivated, reliable, punctual and prepared to help in other production areas when required.

You will have experience or be willing to learn other manufacturing machinery and processes, with a focus on safety and quality in a medium-size family-owned operation with over 30 years in the business.

Qualifications

• Experience in MIG welding and fabrication.
• Willing to learn other manufacturing machinery and processes.
• Able to read and work from drawings/production specifications.
• Strong teamwork and reliability in a busy workshop.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, position and fit components for welding.
• Operate and assist with turret punch, brake press and guillotine when required.
• Operate saws, grinders, drills and other workshop machinery.
• Read and work from drawings, measurements and production specs.
• Check completed work for quality and accuracy.
• Work efficiently to meet production requirements.
• General fabrication and manufacturing duties.
• Manual handling and lifting.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

We are seeking a person with experience in Mig welding and fabricating for a full-time permanent position. You will be motivated, take pride in your workmanship, be reliable and punctual, and be willing to help in other areas of production when required. You will have experience or be willing to learn other manufacturing machinery and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing, positioning and fitting components for welding
• Operating and/or assisting with turret punch, brake press and guillotine when required
• Operating saws, grinders, drills and other workshop machinery
• Reading and working from drawings, measurements and production specifications
• Checking completed work for quality and accuracy
• Working efficiently to meet production requirements
• General fabrication and manufacturing duties
• Manual handling and lifting
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements
