Job summary

RPR Trades is seeking Welders, Fabricators, and Brake Press Operators for our Melbourne Bayside facility. The role involves fabricating, welding and assembling metal components to drawing specifications, using MIG/TIG processes on light gauge steel.

Options include temp-to-perm employment with opportunities for overtime. Early finish Fridays are available, and the site supports safe, efficient production with strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Sheet metal or equivalent work experience.
• Welding experience.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level and square.
• Must be able to set the welding machine.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and weld thin gauge metal components to drawings.
• MIG and TIG light gauge steel 1.1mm to 3mm – Zincaneal, Galvabond, Mild Steel and Stainless Steel.
• Grind and clean all steel; polish stainless steel.
• Inspect welds for quality and structural integrity.
• Read and understand workshop drawings.
• Fabrication of profile lengths using bending and cutting machinery.
• Conduct quality checks on own work and maintain production levels.

Welders, Fabricators, & Brake Press Operators

Our client who is a leader in the manufacturing of high-quality timber and metal doors for residential and commercial projects is seeking Welders, Fabricators, and Brake Press Operators for their facility in Melbourne’s Bayside suburbs.

• Fabricate, assemble and weld thin gauge metal components to various specifications as required from relevant detailed drawings
• MIG and TIG light gauge steel 1.1mm to 3mm – Zincaneal, Galvabond, Mild Steel and Stainless Steel
• Grind and clean all steel, polish stainless Steel
• Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet required standards and structural integrity
• Adjust components where necessary using a grinder or other cutting tools
• Fit components using jigs
• General jobbing work fitting special hardware
• Read and understand workshop drawings
• Fabrication of profile lengths using bending and cutting machinery
• Identify different material types and thicknesses
• Conduct quality control checks on own Work
• Complete required paperwork
• Work within tolerance; ensure quality in the product
• Maintaining production levels as required

Brake Press Operator Key Responsibliities:

• Assembling and adjusting components using hand and power tools
• Operating machinery such as Beam Saws, hand routers, hand tools and power tools
• Fitting components accurately based on job orders
• Reading and interpreting workshop drawings
• Identifying material types
• Working to hourly targets and KPIs
• Conducting quality checks on your own work
• Perform basic equipment maintenance
• Keep your work area clean and safe

Experience & Skills Required:

• Sheet metal or equivalent work experience
• Welding experience
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level and square
• Must be able to set the welding machine
