Job summary

RPR Trades is seeking Welders, Sheetmetal Production Workers and Brake Press Operators for a Bayside Melbourne facility. Immediate start with temp-to-perm progression, early finish Fridays and OT available.

You will fabricate, weld and assemble thin gauge metal to drawings, using MIG/TIG on various steels and maintaining quality throughout. Reading workshop drawings, fitting with jigs, and operating brakes, beamsaws and routers are core duties.

Qualifications

• Sheet metal or equivalent work experience.
• Welding experience.
• Sound written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level and square.
• Must be able to set the welding machine.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and weld thin gauge metal components to various specifications as required from detailed drawings.
• MIG and TIG light gauge steel 1.1mm to 3mm settings and material types.
• Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy, ensuring structural integrity.
• Read and understand workshop drawings; fit components using jigs and tools.
• Operate machinery such as Beam Saws, hand routers, and power tools safely.
• Conduct quality control checks on own work and complete required paperwork.
• Work to hourly targets and KPIs; maintain clean and safe work area.
• General jobbing and assembly of components; perform basic equipment maintenance.

Fabricate, assemble and weld thin gauge metal components to various specifications as required from relevant detailed drawings

MIG and TIG light gauge steel 1.1mm to 3mm – Zincaneal, Galvabond, Mild Steel and Stainless Steel

Grind and clean all steel, polish stainless Steel

Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet required standards and structural integrity

Adjust components where necessary using a grinder or other cutting tools

Fit components using jigs

General jobbing work fitting special hardware

Read and understand workshop drawings

Fabrication of profile lengths using bending and cutting machinery

Identify different material types and thicknesses

Conduct quality control checks on own Work

Complete required paperwork

Work within tolerance; ensure quality in the product

Maintaining production levels as required

Assembling and adjusting components using hand and power tools

Operating machinery such as Beam Saws, hand routers, hand tools and power tools

Fitting components accurately based on job orders

Brake Press Operation

Reading and interpreting workshop drawings

Identifying material types

Working to hourly targets and KPIs

Conducting quality checks on your own work

Perform basic equipment maintenance

Keep your work area clean and safe

Experience & Skills Required:

Sheet metal or equivalent work experience
