Job summary

Next Day Recruitment – Sydney North Shore NSW is seeking a Machine Operator for a busy metal fabrication workshop. You’ll set up and operate CNC punch presses, press brakes, guillotines, shears and busbar machines, load materials, check parts against drawings, and maintain paperwork.

The role requires practical metal fabrication experience, a keen eye for detail, a current driver’s licence, and a forklift licence is a bonus. Normal hours are 38 per week, with PPE supplied.

Qualifications

• Previous machine operator experience preferred.
• Good with your hands and able to read drawings.
• A current driver’s licence and reliable transport to the Northern Beaches.
• Forklift licence is a bonus.
• Rock-solid reliability and eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate workshop machinery such as CNC punch presses, press brakes, guillotines, shears and busbar machines.
• Load material, run production jobs and check parts against drawings and specifications.
• Use precision tools like tape measures, vernier calipers and squares to check tolerances.
• Read and work from technical drawings, cutting lists and written procedures.
• Deburr, fold, cut and prepare sheet metal and copper parts for assembly.
• Carry out basic machine maintenance, tool changes and cleaning, and report any faults.
• Load, unload and move materials around the workshop, with forklift work if licensed.
• Complete paperwork including job cards and quality records.
• Keep the workshop clean, organised and safe.
