Job summary

BHP offers a detailed Fabrication Apprenticeship at the FutureFit Academy in Perth, commencing March 2026. Trainees learn classroom theory and practical shop skills, including reading drawings, measuring, cutting and welding.

Completion yields a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade and a path to work at BHP mine sites. Participants will follow a 7 Days / 7 Off / 7 Nights / 7 Off roster on 10.5-hour shifts and must have transport to the academy.

Qualifications

• A willingness to learn and follow safety procedures.
• Commitment to attendance and completing the 2-year training program.
• Live within 45 minutes of the Forrestfield Academy to enable roster travel.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read technical drawings and measure/mark metal.
• Learn to cut and shape metal and join parts to fabricate or repair equipment.
• Operate workshop tools and follow safety procedures during training.
