Job summary

xceltium in Sydney seeks an experienced Data/Fabric Engineer to design and implement a Microsoft Fabric environment, building Lakehouse and Warehouse structures, and establishing secure, cost-aware pipelines.

You will work across Fabric, OneLake, Data Factory, SQL, Python or Spark, and CI/CD practices, turning architecture decisions into practical scalable data solutions with governance and security at the core.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Microsoft Fabric engineering experience.
• Experience designing Fabric architecture, Lakehouse/Warehouse structures and engineering patterns.
• Strong data ingestion, transformation, ELT/ETL and pipeline capability.
• SQL and data modelling expertise.
• Experience with Python and/or Spark.
• Understanding of security, governance, access controls and data quality.
• Exposure to Azure and modern deployment practices including Git and CI/CD.
• Ability to understand complex source systems and translate requirements into practical technical designs.

Responsibilities

• Design Lakehouse and Warehouse structures within a Fabric environment.
• Build ingestion and transformation pipelines across multiple data sources.
• Curate and model data, establish security and access controls.
• Ensure workloads operate reliably, efficiently and at the right cost.
• Work across Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Data Factory, SQL and notebooks; use Python and/or Spark.
• Form informed technical views and challenge assumptions to improve approaches.
