Job summary

EY-Parthenon, part of EY, seeks a Senior Consultant in Valuation Modelling & Economics to help deliver high‑level financial modelling, economic analysis and decision support for strategic engagements.

You will work with cross‑functional teams across the EY network on capital preservation, optimization, acquisitions and investment strategies, mentoring colleagues and growing the modelling practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with around 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, preferably with a degree in Accounting & Finance, Taxation, Economics, Engineering or Data Science.
• Experience in business development and client management.
• Strong financial modelling skills with the ability to create financial models based on strategic financial plans, statements, cash flow and investment risk.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and review engagements including financial modelling and scenario/cash flow analysis.
• Prepare board and management reports and support decision making.

Join our Valuation Modelling & Economics (VME) division. As a part of a global network of over 10,000 experts across 100 nations, you will provide high-level counsel to clients on capital preservation, optimization, acquisition, and investment strategies. Our EY Parthenon service line encompasses specialised groups such as Mergers and Acquisitions, Project Finance, Corporate Restructuring, Operational Transaction Services, Transaction Support, Transaction Tax, and VME.

Your Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll have a primary focus on modelling, financial statement analysis, data analytics, and economic analysis. You’ll spend your time working with team members to deliver and review a wide range of engagements including financial modelling, decision support and transaction analytics, operating cost, income and expenditure analysis, macroeconomic forecasting, scenario analysis, options analysis and cash flow and financial risk analysis for business case development. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop and share sector specific expertise in a number of industry sectors aligned with your experience and interests.

• Identify issues and propose strategies related to financial investigations and the procedures executed.
• Assume a role in detailed financial modelling which will support key decision making including supporting preparation of board and management reports.
• Build and nurture positive, productive, and professional relationships with both internal and external clients.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, mentor colleagues, stay informed about current business, accounting and economic trends relevant to clients, and leverage the latest technology and tools to enhance service delivery.
• Seek out and seize new business opportunities, participating in client proposals and presentations to grow the modelling practice, supporting projects relating to acquisitions, divestments, mergers and capital financing.
• Mentor and develop junior team members through delegation and hands-on training, fostering an inclusive and innovative team environment appropriate to a Senior Consultant role.

This hybrid role can be based in Meanjin – Brisbane, Warrang – Sydney, Naarm – Melbourne or Ngambri – Canberra.

• A bachelor's degree with around 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
• Exceptional numerical and analytical skills, preferably with a degree in Accounting & Finance, Taxation, Economics, Engineering or Data Science.
• Highly desirable knowledge in venture capital, investment banking, commercial banking, strategy, and/or financial research.
• Experience in business development and client management.
• Strong financial modelling skills with the ability to create financial models based on strategic financial business plans, financial statements, cash flow and capital investment risk.
• Ability to manage project expenditures against budget and revenue, and provide guidance to team members to ensure the completion of work deliverables
