Job summary

Lockheed Martin Australia is seeking an Export / Import Compliance Officer for Defence Programs in Melbourne. The role coordinates EXIM activities across the MFC portfolio and partners with senior leaders in Australia and the US.

You will guide on export controls, Incoterms, and trade agreements while ensuring compliance with Australian and international regulations. The position involves collaboration with government agencies, internal teams, and external partners, with hybrid work options and

Qualifications

• Legal or compliance background is required.
• Experience with Australian and foreign government agencies.
• Knowledge of Australian Customs / Border Force processes.
• Understanding US, Australian and international export control legislation.
• Proven ability to lead and develop others.
• Experience with logistics, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
• Strong attention to detail and regulatory management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted, expert advice to stakeholders on EXIM compliance, including shipment, transfer, and documentation of controlled goods and data.
• Collaborate with decision makers in Australian and foreign governments to meet defence and customer needs.
• Ensure compliance with US, Australian and international export control regulations and internal policies.
• Lead, mentor, and support team members to build a high-performing environment.
• Interpret legislation and translate it into clear, practical guidance for internal stakeholders.
• Review Australian export and supply applications before Defence Export Control submission.
• Provide guidance on Incoterms, FTAs, and preferential duty programs.
• Support uplift and implementation of EXIM compliance frameworks and processes.
