Lockheed Martin Australia is seeking an Export / Import Compliance Officer for Defence Programs in Melbourne. The role coordinates EXIM activities across the MFC portfolio and partners with senior leaders in Australia and the US.

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted, expert advice to stakeholders on EXIM compliance, including shipment, transfer, and documentation of controlled goods and data.
• Collaborate with decision makers in Australian and foreign governments to meet defence and customer needs.
• Ensure compliance with US, Australian and international export control regulations and internal policies.
• Lead, mentor, and support team members to build a high-performing environment.
• Interpret legislation and translate it into clear, practical guidance for internal stakeholders.
• Review Australian export and supply applications before Defence Export Control submission.
• Provide guidance on Incoterms, FTAs, and preferential duty programs.
• Support uplift and implementation of EXIM compliance frameworks and processes.

Export / Import Compliance Officer - Defence Programs

Seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to manage and coordinate Export/Import (EXIM) activities in support of the Missiles & Fire Control (MFC) portfolio. This high-visibility role partners with senior leaders in Australia and the US.

It is critical in ensuring the smooth flow of goods and technical data to and from international destinations while maintaining strict compliance with Australian and international regulations. You will work closely with internal teams, global Lockheed Martin operations, and government authorities to provide guidance, resolve issues, and support EXIM compliance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide trusted, expert advice to stakeholders across the business on EXIM compliance, including the shipment, transfer, and documentation of controlled goods and technical data
• Collaboration with key decision makers including but not limited to Australian and foreign governments to develop strategic solutions to meet Defence and customer needs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable US, Australian and International export control regulations and internal policies
• Lead, mentor, and support team members, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment
• Interpret complex legislation and translate it into clear, practical guidance for internal stakeholders
• Review and provide advice on Australian export and supply applications prior to submission to Defence Export Control (DEC)
• Provide advanced guidance on Incoterms, Free Trade Agreements, and preferential duty programs
• Support the ongoing uplift and implementation of EXIM compliance frameworks and processes

Essential knowledge and experience required.

• Legal or compliance background
• Experience with working collaboratively with Australian and foreign government agencies.
• Knowledge of Australian Customs / Border Force processes.
• Demonstrated experience or strong understanding of US, Australian and International export control legislation
• Proven ability to lead, with willingness to support and develop others
• Experience with logistics, freight forwarding, and customs brokers.
• Exemplary attention to detail with the ability to manage complex regulatory requirements in a structured and accurate manner
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and translate it into clear, practical, and business-focused guidance for stakeholders
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
