Job summary

Nova Systems seeks Explosive Ordnance Engineers to support Defence projects across Australia. In this consulting role you will review requirements, assess risks, provide engineering advice and support informed decisions on complex capability challenges.

This position offers permanent and max-term contracts, with opportunities for client engagement, technical variety, and contributions to national security outcomes.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronic or Aerospace.
• Experience on Defence or Defence Industry projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Australian Citizenship with NV1 clearance (active or eligible).

About the role:
Bring your explosive ordnance expertise into consulting and help shape Defence capability where it matters most.
Nova Systems is seeking Explosive Ordnance Engineers to support Defence projects across Australia. In these consulting roles, you will work with Defence and industry clients to review requirements, assess risks, provide engineering advice, and support informed decision-making on complex capability challenges.
This is a strong fit for engineers who enjoy technical variety, client engagement, and applying specialist knowledge to work with genuine national security purpose.

What you will be involved with:

• Providing consultancy advice and technical solutions to clients in project environments.
• Building strong client relationships and acting as a trusted engineering advisor.
• Analysing engineering systems, processes, and projects to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Solving complex engineering challenges through innovative and practical solutions.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, logisticians, technicians, and end users.
• Preparing technical reports, project documentation, presentations, and engineering findings.
• Contributing to business development opportunities and long-term client partnerships.

What we would like from you:

• Degree qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronic, Aerospace). Overseas engineering qualifications need to meet Engineers Australia's criteria for engineering degrees.
• Previous experience working in across Defence or Defence Industry projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and develop effective solutions.
• Ability to understand client challenges, objectives, and engineering requirements.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying informed of emerging engineering technologies and methodologies.
• Flexibility to support varying project, client, and business requirements.
• Australian Citizen with an active or suspended NV1 clearance.
