Job summary

The Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) in Adelaide is seeking an Exploration Assessment Officer (PO2) to join the Exploration Regulation team. You will manage assessments of exploration applications and programs in line with legislation, engaging proponents and agencies to deliver robust regulatory outcomes.

Essential qualifications include a degree in science or environmental fields. The role offers a full-time position based in Adelaide with flexible arrangements and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Experience applying legislation in a regulatory environment.
• Knowledge of environmental impact assessments in the resources sector.
• Ability to build productive relationships with industry, government and communities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake and coordinate assessments of mineral exploration applications and programs.
• Coordinate assessment processes through to completion with proponents and government agencies.
• Assess environmental and social impacts and prepare recommendations for decision makers.
• Provide technical advice on environmental impact assessment and regulatory processes.
• Contribute to compliance monitoring and regulatory initiatives.
• Assist in developing policies, procedures, and internal systems.
• Build productive relationships with industry and stakeholders.
• Support other legislated assessment processes as required.
