Job summary

SYSTRA ANZ is seeking a Senior Civil Drafter to join our Brisbane or Melbourne team. You will lead detailed rail drawings and CAD models, translate designs, and work with engineers to resolve issues.

You will mentor junior drafters and manage drafting tasks across design stages. Ideal candidates have 8+ years' civil drafting experience on rail or civil transport D&C projects, strong AutoCAD 2D skills, and a qualification in Civil Engineering.

• Qualification in Civil Engineering such as Certificate IV, Diploma or Associate Degree

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed rail drawings and CAD models across concept, design development and detailed design stages.
• Translate engineering designs, sketches and mark-ups into accurate technical drawings, details and coordinated drawing sets.
• Work with engineers and multidisciplinary drafters to incorporate design changes and resolve clashes and drafting discrepancies.
• Check drawings and models for accuracy, consistency and compliance with client requirements and company standards.
• Manage drafting tasks, deadlines, drawing registers and revision records, providing progress updates.
• Support junior drafters with CAD techniques and detailing, coordinating with the Drafting Manager to resolve issues.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Civil Drafter to join our Brisbane or Melbourne team in a role that offers real scope, ownership and influence. You'll join a national drafting team working across complex D&C Rail infrastructure projects, with a strong pipeline of major rail opportunities. If you are someone who enjoys being hands-on in delivery but also wants to mentor, guide and be seen as a trusted senior in the team; we would love to speak with you.

• Prepare detailed rail drawings and CAD models across concept, design development and detailed design stages.
• Translate engineering designs, sketches and mark-ups into accurate technical drawings, details and coordinated drawing sets.
• Work directly with engineers and multidisciplinary drafters to incorporate design changes and resolve clashes and drafting discrepancies.
• Check drawings and models for accuracy, consistency and compliance with client requirements and company standards.
• Manage assigned drafting tasks, deadlines, drawing registers and revision records, providing regular progress updates.
• Support junior drafters with CAD techniques and detailing, working closely with the Drafting Manager to resolve technical issues.

About You

This is a chance to join a well-established national team of around 40 and take on a role with real influence. You'll be working on major rail and infrastructure opportunities, helping shape delivery, and filling a genuine need in the team at senior level. Key criteria:

• Strong hands-on experience as a Senior or Experienced Civil Drafter on rail or civil transport design and construct (D&C) projects.
• Proven ability to independently produce detailed drawings and coordinated drafting outputs for complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong AutoCAD 2D skills are essential; experience with 12d is highly regarded.
• Ability to check drawings, identify errors and clashes, and work closely with engineers and designers to resolve technical issues.
• Typically 8+ years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalent technical capability in civil drafting.
• A relevant qualification, such as a Certificate IV, Diploma or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering.
