Job summary

Newcastle & Hunter Community Health – Newcastle NSW is seeking compassionate, dedicated and experienced support workers to join our team. This casual role offers meaningful community work and competitive pay.

As a support worker, you will work with our multidisciplinary team in a hands-on client-facing role, providing personal care, medication assistance, and transport to appointments. Must have a Cert III/IV in relevant fields and a minimum of 1 year experience with complex needs.

Qualifications

• Must hold Certificate III or IV in assistant nursing, disability, or individual support.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar support role with complex/high-need clients.
• Australian unrestricted driver’s license and insured vehicle.
• Police clearance and Working with children check or willingness to obtain.
• Current first aid certification and NDIS worker screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and daily living assistance to clients.
• Assist with medication administration and safety checks.
• Support mobility via lifting and equipment handling.
• Deliver respite services and household tasks including meal prep.
• Transport clients to appointments and community activities.
• Offer social support at home and in the community.

The Position

As a support worker, you will work with our multidisciplinary team in a hands-on client-facing role.

Complex/high needs client experience must include work with behavioral support needs, physical disabilities, or mental health conditions

Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role

Australian unrestricted driver's license

Insured and registered vehicle

Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain one)

Working with children check (or willingness to obtain one)

Current first aid certification

NDIS worker screen

Smartphone with internet access

Full availability including Night Shifts

Australian citizenship or permanent residency required for work authorization
