Job summary

Empowered Living Care is seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to support a participant in a Supported Independent Living home in Gymea. The role focuses on calm, consistent, person-centred care for individuals with complex behaviours of concern.

You will work with an established team to provide structured in-home and community support, build trust, and maintain a consistent approach while safeguarding dignity and independence in daily life.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Disability Support Worker with complex behaviours of concern
• Background in SIL or similar complex disability environments
• Ability to provide personal care and daily living assistance

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised support within the participant's SIL home
• Support community access, appointments, activities and social participation
• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
• Support household routines and daily living skills
• Implement Behaviour Support Plans and established strategies
• Recognise triggers and respond proactively with de‑escalation
• Support the participant's choice, dignity, independence and quality of life
• Complete sleepover shifts as required
• Accurately complete progress notes and reports

Job description

Empowered Living Care is seeking an experienced and confident Disability Support Worker to provide dedicated support to a participant living within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Gymea. This position is specifically suited to an experienced disability support professional who has previously worked with complex behaviours of concern and is confident providing calm, consistent and person-centred support in challenging situations. You will work as part of an established support team to provide consistent, structured support within the participant's home and community. Building trust and maintaining a consistent approach will be an important part of the role.

Key responsibilities

• Providing individualised support within the participant's SIL home
• Supporting community access, appointments, activities and social participation
• Providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
• Supporting household routines and the development and maintenance of daily living skills
• Implementing Behaviour Support Plans and established support strategies
• Recognising behavioural triggers and responding proactively
• Using appropriate de‑escalation strategies and maintaining a calm approach during challenging situations
• Supporting the participant's choice, dignity, independence and quality of life
• Completing sleepover shifts as required
• Accurately completing progress notes, incident reports and other required documentation

About you

• Demonstrated professional experience as a Disability Support Worker
• Previous experience supporting people with complex and/or significant behaviours of concern
• Experience working within SIL or other complex disability support environments
