Job summary

Programmed is seeking a Kiln Car Maintenance Technician in Wollert, VIC for day shifts. $44.38 per hour, depending on experience. Responsibilities include maintenance, inspections, repairs, and repairs of kiln cars, with emphasis on safety and workmanship.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, performing welding/fabrication, and following WHS protocols. Unqualified applicants with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Located in Wollert, Northern Suburbs.

Qualifications

• Experience in steel fabrication and welding is advantageous.
• Mechanical maintenance and repair experience in heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Forklift licence highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, inspections, and repairs on the site's fleet of kiln cars.
• Complete routine block alignment, block replacement, and soft seal inspections and replacement.
• Inspect kiln car frames and skirts for damage and carry out repairs as required.
• Assist with complete kiln car rebuilds, including stripping old materials and rebuilding to specification.
• Perform steel fabrication, cutting, welding, and repairs to kiln car frames and structures.
• Install castable, Cal-Sil boards, vermiculite, Kao Wool, scoria, and kiln blocks to manufacturer specifications.
• Conduct quality inspections on completed kiln cars prior to Project Engineer sign-off.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area, including the kiln car repair facility.
• Follow all Workplace Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
• Assist with general maintenance duties and other tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience in steel fabrication and welding a bonus.
• Sound mechanical maintenance and repair experience within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Forklift Licence highly regarded.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and housekeeping.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively within a team.
