Job summary

IAG, Australia’s largest general insurance group, seeks an Executive Manager, Group Internal Audit in Sydney. You will lead the annual audit plan for international businesses, delivering independent assurance and insights to strengthen risk management and business decisions.

You’ll build and mentor a team of internal auditors, shaping AI and data strategy and collaborating with senior executives and risk committees to drive value from audits.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading internal audit portfolios with knowledge of financial services regulation.
• Strong technical audit expertise and sound judgement in assessing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
• Credibility to engage with senior business leaders and Board Audit Committees, with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Commercial insight to translate complex risks into clear messages and practical recommendations.
• Ability to lead AI, data and analytics initiatives that enhance audit effectiveness and value.
• Track record of developing capable teams, driving innovation and sharing knowledge.
• Strong planning and stakeholder management skills with the ability to balance priorities while maintaining audit quality.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the annual audit plan for your portfolios, managing resources, scheduling, stakeholder engagement and external co-source partners.
• Oversee audit conclusions, findings and quality assurance, ensuring audits meet methodology and standards.
• Prepare quarterly Board Audit Committee reports and present findings to executive risk and Board committees.
• Lead Group Internal Audit’s AI and data strategy, prioritising use cases and supervising the Data Engineer for the audit data environment.
• Identify common risk and control themes, provide commercially informed recommendations and monitor management’s actions.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of internal auditors, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with leadership to coordinate audit activity and support the function’s performance, engagement and wellbeing.
