Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking an accomplished and strategic senior leader to join the Research Portfolio as Executive Director, Research Services, responsible for leading and transforming the services that enable research across the University.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), the Executive Director provides senior executive leadership for researcher-facing services, leading five key areas and delivering an end-to-end service model to support world-class research

Qualifications

• Significant senior executive leadership experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Deep knowledge of the research lifecycle and research services.
• Proven track record in complex service transformation and reducing administrative burden?
• Ability to translate strategy into operational delivery with clear accountability.
• Strong stakeholder leadership with senior academic and external partners.
• Judgement and risk management in governance and compliance.
• Experience managing budgets and resources at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and transform Research Services across five areas to deliver end-to-end services.
• Drive integrated processes, improve systems, and reduce researchers’ administrative burden.
• Provide trusted advisory to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and senior leaders.
• Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to influence policy.
• Oversee and monitor service standards, performance, and continuous improvement.
