Job summary

University of Sydney is seeking an accomplished senior leader to join the Research Portfolio as Executive Director, Research Services, responsible for leading and transforming services that enable world‑class research. Reporting to the Deputy Vice‑Chancellor (Research), the role directs five areas and drives an integrated, researcher‑centred service model.

Qualifications

Significant senior executive leadership experience.
Deep knowledge of the research lifecycle and services.
Track record in service transformation and organizational change.
Ability to translate strategy into operational delivery with clear accountability.
Strong communication and advisory capabilities with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead and transform five key research service areas (pre- and post‑award, ethics, trials, governance, and improvement).
Provide senior executive leadership and develop high‑performing leaders across multidisciplinary teams.
Drive end‑to‑end, researcher‑centred service models with measurable improvements.
Advise on policy, risk, compliance and performance to support strategic ambitions.
