Qualifications

• 10 years’ senior experience in institutional investment, with a track record in investment strategy and governance.
• Degree in finance, mathematics, actuarial studies, or law; CFA desirable.
• Deep understanding of pension fund investment programs.
• Strong knowledge of investment governance frameworks.
• Experience shaping investment strategies aligned to organizational priorities.
• Excellent stakeholder relations to align collective strategies.
• Familiarity with global pension structures.
• Understanding of capital markets and thematic investments.
• Knowledge of APRA prudential regulation.

The Role

The Executive Director, Owner Investment Programmeswill play a pivotal role in advancing IFM’s Owner Strategy, which seeks to encourage active ownership and build greater mutual strategic support among IFM andthe16 profit-to-member superannuation and pension funds who own IFM and are the custodians of the retirement savings of over 25 million people.

This role will lead the development of collective investment initiatives that align with the organisational objectives of industry superannuation funds who are IFM’s owners.As part of these activities, this role will design frameworks to understand emerging owner needs, synthesise insights into actionable strategies, and co-create thematic investment and public policy programmes with owners. In addition, this role will provide insights to different business units across IFM regarding owner objectives, includingby connecting owner objectives to IFM’s product development, client solutions, deal origination, asset management, and policy advocacy capabilities. Acting as a key liaison across IFM teams and owner networks, the position will support strategic alignment, foster innovation, and strengthen IFM’s leadership in global pension capital investment.

Your Background and Experience

• 10 years’ senior experience in institutional investment (e.g., superannuation or pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, diversified long-term fiduciary investors, or asset consulting), with a strong track record translating organisational objectives into investment strategy, portfolio construction, investment governance, or programmatic investment.
• 10 years’ experience in a relevant role, supported by a degree in a related field such as finance, mathematics, actuarial studies, or law; graduate degree desirable, CFA desirable.
• Deep understanding of institutional investment, particularly pension and superannuation fund investment programs.
• Strong knowledge of investment governance frameworks, processes, and accountability structures.
• Experience developing investment strategies and portfolios aligned to organisational objectives, investment opportunities, and collective priorities.
• Excellent capability in stakeholder relations to build shared understanding and alignment around collective investment strategies and programmes.
• Familiarity with global pension and superannuation structures and practices.
• Expertise in portfolio construction theory and practice, including quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Strong grasp of capital markets assumptions and thematic investment strategies.
• Knowledge of investment governance theory, fiduciary management, and risk frameworks.
• Ability to develop and maintain analytical frameworks to synthesise portfolio objectives, assess implementation options, and evaluate investment outcomes.
• Strong understanding of relevant regulatory environments (e.g., APRA prudential regulation).
