Job summary

NOPSEMA is seeking an Executive Director to provide strategic leadership of regulatory activities across producing assets within the Regulatory Operations Division. The role focuses on risk-based regulation, identifying emerging industry risks, and driving continuous improvement in regulatory practices.

The successful candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in regulatory organisations and/or major hazard industries, with deep knowledge of offshore petroleum safety, process safety,

Qualifications

• Extensive executive leadership experience in a regulatory organisation and/or major hazard industry.
• Strong understanding of operational risk management across the asset lifecycle.
• Experience guiding regulatory operations and influencing regulatory outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead regulatory operations across production facilities and oversee specialist technical advice on production operations, process safety and marine operations.
• Provide risk-based regulatory oversight to ensure fair, consistent and defendable regulatory outcomes.
• Collaborate with other Executive Directors to promote consistency in regulatory practice and capability development.
• Support workforce capability, succession planning and organizational improvement within NOPSEMA.
