Job summary

Department of Industry, Science & Resources seeks an exceptional leader to drive the National AI Centre (NAIC) transformation, championing trusted, secure, and responsible AI across industry and government in Australia.

The Executive Director will steer high-impact programs, engage external stakeholders, and work with APS leadership to position Australia as a global leader in AI adoption and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in the AI industry (or related fields).
• Experience guiding cloud, digital or AI transformation initiatives.
• Proven ability to develop and drive a strategic agenda.

Responsibilities

• Lead NAIC to transform Australia’s AI ecosystem and align with National AI Plan.
• Advise Government on portfolio issues and ensure governance obligations are met.
• Collaborate with senior executives across the portfolio to deliver outcomes.
