Job summary

The Australian Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources seeks an Executive Director for the National AI Centre (NAIC) to lead Australia’s AI ecosystem transformation. You will guide strategy, engage with industry leaders and government, and drive trusted, secure AI practices across public sector and industry.

This senior role offers flexibility and regional placement in Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney, with a focus on leadership, governance and collaboration to deliver the National AI

Responsibilities

Lead the NAIC and deliver its objectives for Australia’s AI ecosystem.
Advise the Government on portfolio issues and policy implications.
Ensure governance obligations are met and reporting is robust.
Collaborate across the APS, portfolio and external partners to deliver outcomes.
Foster cross-portfolio collaboration and drive a trusted, secure AI practice.
