Job summary

Hawkesbury City Council in Windsor, NSW, seeks a planning professional to manage major Development Applications and lead in Land and Environment Court proceedings. You will drive business improvements and mentor the team to achieve high-performance and superior customer experience.

The role requires a NSW planning background, strong communication and analytical skills, and a proactive, pragmatic approach in a hybrid work environment with a 9 Day Fortnight.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience with the NSW Planning system and complex Development Applications.
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills in planning concepts.
  • Proven ability to work independently with high quality written and verbal communication.
  • Experience with Land and Environment Court practices and procedures.
  • Experience in business improvement initiatives within the Development Assessment context.
  • Ability to mentor staff and manage conflict resolution and negotiation.

The role

Reporting to the Coordinator Town Planning and basedin Windsor, the purpose of this position is to manage major and complex Development Applications, take a lead role in Land and Environment Court proceedings, assist withdriving business improvement as well as mentoring and coaching the team to ensure high performance and superior customer experience.

About You

This role will suit a planning professional with extensiveexperience in the NSW Planning system and a passion to effect change in light of the Ministerial Statement of Expectations and planning reforms. You will work amongst a high preforming team of planning professionals where your proactive attitude and the ability todeal with complex matters through proven written and verbal communicationskills will augment the team further in its journey of culture and performance . Using your attention to detail, your judgement and initiativewith a solution-based approach to all situations, you will thrive working with the management team on taking oninteresting challenges relating to a broad range of planning issues thatconfront metropolitan and peri-urban areas, whilst being able to think independently and act pragmatically in prioritising complex tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Tertiaryqualifications in UrbanPlanning or equivalent
  • Demonstratedextensive experience in dealing with a wide range of complex Development Applicationsand experience in negotiating directly with applicants to achieve high qualityplanning outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and judgment in planningconcepts with demonstrated experience in working independently
  • Demonstratedexperience in Land and EnvironmentCourt of NSW Practices andProcedures
  • Highly developed skills in effectivecommunication, report writing skills and oral communication.
  • Demonstrated experience in businessimprovement initiatives in the Development Assessment context
  • Experience in mentoring staff, conflictresolution and negotiation.
  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • WHS General Construction Work in NSW
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Successful applicants will be required toundergo background (police) checks and medical declaration
