PJS Plumbing in Newcastle & Lower Hunter is seeking an experienced excavator operator and practical all-rounder to join our plumbing and drainage team. The role involves operating excavators, trenching and assisting with drainage and plumbing tasks on diverse projects across Newcastle and the Lower Hunter.

HR driver's licence is essential, a White Card is required, and a plumbing qualification is not necessary.

PJS Plumbing is looking for an experienced excavator operator and practical all-rounder to join our plumbing and drainage team.

We’re after someone confident on the machine who’s also happy to jump out and help with drainage, pipe laying and other aspects of plumbing work. Excavator operating experience and a current HR driver’s licence are essential. A plumbing qualification isn’t required.

The work

• Operating excavators for sewer, stormwater and water service installations.

• Excavating trenches, pits, and service connections.

• Working around existing underground services and within restricted-access sites.

• Following set-out and working with the plumbing crew to achieve required levels.

• Driving trucks, transporting plant and moving materials.

• Loading spoil, backfilling, compacting and completing site clean-up.

• Assisting plumbers with drainage, pipe laying and other plumbing tasks

• Completing daily checks and looking after trucks, machinery and attachments.

What you’ll bring

• Proven excavator operating experience, preferably in plumbing, drainage or civil works.

• A current HR driver’s licence.

• Good control and accuracy when trenching and working around services.

• An understanding of excavation risks and safe digging practices.

• A willingness to assist with physical work and learn other aspects of the trade.

• Reliability, clear communication and care for equipment.

• A White Card and relevant evidence of excavator operating competency.

Experience with drainage installation, laser levels, loading and securing plant would be highly regarded.
