Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an ETL Test Lead to oversee E2E data warehouse testing for an insurance program in Australia. The role involves Azure Synapse, Guidewire & Evolve data sources, and managing offshore teams to deliver robust Power BI reporting solutions.

You will create test strategies, design scenarios, and drive defect triages while collaborating with BA and development teams to meet functional and technical requirements. Strong ETL, DW, and cloud experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in ETL and Datawarehouse testing across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
• Hands-on with Synapse pipeline logs analysis and debugging.
• Proficient in SQL, Unix, VB scripting, Oracle, Snowflake, Redshift.

Responsibilities

• Perform E2E Datawarehouse testing for large programs.
• Gather business requirements and design walkthroughs; raise clarifications.
• Define scope from functional and technical documents; perform gap analysis.
• Collaborate with BSA to understand requirements; prepare test strategy.
• Create detailed test plans, scenarios, cases, scripts, and data guidelines for multiple portfolios.
• Identify testable scenarios and maintain traceability matrix with test scenarios.
• Design/modify SQL test scripts per mapping documents and specs; run jobs.
• Execute automation and manual tests; maintain testing evidence and status.
• Prepare data mocks when needed; ensure data migration aligns with logic.
• Log defects, track to closure; participate in triages and root-cause analysis.
• Publish daily status and defect metrics to client; prepare dashboards and test summaries.
• Design and implement a data warehouse QA automation framework.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and inform progress to BA & development teams.

Position Summary

Cognizant is seeking a ETL Test Lead to work with Functional, Integration and E2E business process testing for an insurance account in Australia. This role is for an ETL Test lead who can work individually on the Azure migration project from Guidewire/DB2 and EVOLVE sources to Power BI reports and can handle offshore team. Should have hands on experience and strong knowledge on ETL/DWH concepts with Azure cloud knowledge. Should be having hands on experience on Azure Synapse, Synapse Pipeline, Db2, SQL server experience. Should be able to create scenarios and Defect tracking in JIRA and able to manage offshore team.

Mandatory Skills

Roles And Responsibilities

• Responsible to perform E2E Datawarehouse testing for large program
• Responsibility includes Business Requirement gathering & Design walkthrough sessions and Understanding the Functional Specification documents and raising of clarifications
• Defining the Scope based on the Functional and Technical Documents
• Performing gaps analysis by comparing technical documents with Business Requirements and ensuring whether all functional requirements are implemented in technical document
• Liaison with BSA to understand the requirements
• Prepare test strategy
• Provide Detailed Test Plan & Test strategy and Preparing Test Scenarios, Test Cases, Test Scripts & Data Guidelines based on the Functional Specification documents and tools across multiple portfolios to reduce the cost of quality and contribute towards organizational testing policy
• Identify testable scenarios (test scenario document)
• Create / update the Requirements traceability matrix with test scenarios
• Identify test cases for automation and seek sign off from customer
• Create test cases based on the understanding of the requirements
• Create/Modify the SQL test scripts as per the ETL mapping documents and technical specifications & Requirements
• Run the jobs and perform smoke testing
• Execute automation test scripts/manual test cases
• Record and maintain testing evidence and track execution status of assigned test cases
• Responsible for Data Mock up when any of the business scenarios not met and make sure that Data migrating from the source to target is in line with the logic specified
• Identify defects and log failures
• Track defects (defect log as generated from the QC tool/JIRA Tool) to closure
• Participate in the defect triages to gather evidence for defect identification on periodic basis for defect prioritization and fix
• Retest the defect and update the status
• Performing Root Cause Analysis for Critical Defects and handled Defect Calls
• Reporting the Bugs using Defect Tracking Tool and making sure all defects are closed and Publishing Daily Status and Defect Metrics to the client
• Responsible in Preparation of Dashboard, weekly status report and Test Summary Report
• Designing and implementing test automation framework for data warehouse quality assurance
• Internal review and share for stakeholder review and feedback
• Collaborate closely with BA & development team
