  • Experience with estimating software and project management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive quotes for electrical fire services, including maintenance, upgrades, and installations.
  • Review site reports, drawings, and specs to determine labour, materials, and equipment requirements.
  • Source pricing from suppliers and wholesalers for electrical and fire system components.
  • Quote minor works, system modifications and defects identified during testing and servicing.
  • Calculate labour hours and costs to ensure profitability and efficiency across projects.
  • Maintain clear documentation of estimates, pricing and submissions.
  • Collaborate with technicians, project managers and internal teams to define scope and support delivery.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify requirements and follow up on proposals.

Estimator / Project Manager - Fire Protection

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated person to join our growing business. We are a Victorian based essential safety measures provider with offices in five locations; the main office being located in Shepparton.

We are also a Registered Training Organization (RTO) providing on site safety training programs in Shepparton, Laverton North, Bendigo, Mildura and the surrounding areas.

About The role:

This hybrid role of Estimator / Project Manager will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and managing fire protection projects from award through to completion. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant Australian Standards, regulations, and client requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality fire protection solutions including fire sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, passive fire protection, fire detection, and related systems.

This position plays a critical role in delivering compliant, high-quality fire protection projects while maintaining strong client relationships and achieving company profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing accurate and competitive quotes for electrical fire services, including maintenance, upgrades, and installations
  • Reviewing site reports, technical drawings, and specifications to determine labour, materials, and equipment requirements
  • Sourcing pricing from suppliers and wholesalers for electrical and fire system components
  • Quoting minor works, system modifications, and defect repairs identified during testing and servicing.
  • Calculating labour hours and costs to ensure profitability and efficiency across projects
  • Ensuring all quotes comply with NCC and relevant Australian Standards (e.g. AS 1851, AS 1670, AS 2293)
  • Maintaining clear and accurate documentation of estimates, pricing, and submissions
  • Collaborating with technicians, project managers, and internal teams to define scope and support project delivery
  • Communicating with clients to clarify requirements and follow up on submitted proposals.
Project Management:
  • Manage multiple fire protection projects from award to practical completion.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Manage project variations, forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and project specifications.
  • Conduct site meetings and liaise with clients, builders, consultants, and authorities.
  • Oversee commissioning, testing, certification, and handover processes.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained and completed accurately.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and company policies.
  • Ensure all installations comply with relevant Australian Standards, NCC requirements, and fire authority regulations.
  • Participate in site safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Ensure quality assurance procedures are implemented throughout projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Provide professional advice regarding fire protection systems and project requirements.
  • Respond to client queries and resolve project issues promptly.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and project growth.
Your Skills, Experience & Attributes
  • Proven experience in an estimating, quoting, or senior technical role within the fire protection or electrical industry
  • Sound understanding of compliance requirements and Australian Standards
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail in pricing and costings
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple quotes simultaneously to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating or field management systems (e.g. Uptick, simPRO or similar)
  • Background as a qualified Electrician or Fire Alarm Technician (highly regarded)
  • Experience using estimating software and project management systems (highly regarded)
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical fire systems (including alarms, detection, emergency and exit lighting, and EWIS(highly regarded)
  • Knowledge of Procore, Aconex, PayApps, or similar construction platforms (highly regarded)
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and strong commercial awareness
