Helix Construction Group on the Sunshine Coast (Queensland) is seeking an experienced estimator to support the delivery of residential projects. You will prepare accurate estimates and tender submissions, with responsibility for procurement planning and cost control across multiple projects.

Reporting to management, you will play an important role in supporting the successful delivery of construction projects. Your primary responsibility will be preparing accurate estimates and tender submissions, with additional responsibilities across procurement, project cost control, documentation and project coordination. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in residential construction estimating, a sound understanding of construction drawings and specifications, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. As the business grows, there will be opportunities to contribute to a wider range of projects, including commercial construction.

Key responsibilities

Review architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications and tender documentation.

Prepare accurate quantity take-offs, cost estimates, pricing schedules and tender submissions.

Obtain, review and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.

Prepare scopes of work and identify inclusions, exclusions, discrepancies and potential project risks.

Research construction materials, labour rates, supplier pricing and alternative products.

Maintain and update estimating databases, cost schedules and pricing information.

Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or project requirements.

Assist with coordinating projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Prepare procurement schedules and coordinate material orders, deliveries and supplier follow-ups.

Monitor project programmes, outstanding tasks, deadlines and material lead times.

About you

Previous experience in construction estimating, project coordination or a similar role within the building industry.

Experience estimating single-storey and double-storey residential homes.

A sound understanding of construction drawings, specifications, building processes and scopes of work.

Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate quantity take-offs, cost estimates and tender submissions.

Experience obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.

Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.

Excellent attention to detail and document management skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.

The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
