Job summary

Core Talent is partnering with a boutique contractor to recruit an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team in Sydney CBD.

This role will manage tenders from inception through handover, with detailed BOQ take-offs, subcontractor pricing, and value engineering across commercial fit-out and hospitality projects. You will work closely with project teams, price from first principles, and contribute to tender success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years estimating experience in commercial construction or fit-out.
• Strong take-offs and BOQ preparation from drawings.
• Proven experience managing trade packages through the full tender process.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present pricing with confidence.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed BOQs, take-offs and cost plans from drawings and specifications.
• Managing subcontractor tender packages and evaluating returned pricing.
• Identifying scope gaps, buildability risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Producing professional and competitive tender submissions.
• Working closely with Project Managers to align pricing with methodology and programme requirements.
• Participating in post-tender reviews and project handovers.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Core Talent is partnering with a highly regarded boutique contractor to recruit an experienced Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team.

This is an opportunity to join a business with an excellent reputation for delivering technically challenging commercial fit-out and hospitality projects across Sydney. Their portfolio includes hotel refurbishments, high-end workplace interiors and heritage projects throughout the CBD and inner suburbs.

With a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an Estimator who enjoys taking ownership of the pricing process and working closely with project teams to secure and successfully deliver projects.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will play a key role within the pre-construction team, managing tenders from inception through to handover.

Responsibilities

About You

• Proven experience managing trade packages through the full tender process
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present pricing with confidence
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work autonomously
• Exposure to hospitality, heritage or specialist fit-out projects would be highly regarded
• Experience using CostX, Cubit, Buildsoft or similar estimating software
• Trade qualifications or a Construction-related degree are both welcomed
