Job summary

Fortis Talent in Sydney is seeking an experienced Estimator to own tenders and pricing for commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects, up to $10M. You’ll work with the pre-construction team and Directors, applying your estimating expertise to determine the best commercial approach for each opportunity.

You’ll use Procore and collaborate with a network of subcontractors, contributing to a broader portfolio and a secure project pipeline in the competitive Sydney market.

The Opportunity

As Estimator, you’ll play an important role within the pre-construction team, taking ownership of tenders and pricing opportunities generally valued up to $10M.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply sit behind a spreadsheet churning out numbers. You’ll be trusted to use your experience, contribute ideas and work closely with the Directors and broader project team to determine the best commercial approach to each opportunity.

You’ll have access to strong systems including Procore, an established subcontractor network and the support of a business with a long track record in the Sydney construction market.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll prepare detailed cost plans and tender submissions across labour, materials, subcontractors, plant and preliminaries, while reviewing drawings, specifications and site conditions to ensure scopes are accurate and commercially sound.

You’ll liaise directly with subcontractors and suppliers, analyse pricing, identify risks and opportunities and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to put together competitive tender submissions.

You’ll also have the opportunity to present your methodology and recommendations internally and contribute to improvements across the estimating function.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll have solid estimating experience within the Australian commercial construction market, ideally across commercial fit-out, refurbishment or similar building projects.

You’ll understand construction methodology, subcontractor pricing and the realities of delivering projects, not simply how to populate an estimate.

You’ll be commercially aware, methodical and confident communicating with subcontractors, suppliers, project teams and senior leadership.

Just as importantly, you’ll suit a business that values people who are down-to-earth, accountable, collaborative and good at what they do.
