Job summary

Dahlsens Building Centres Pty is recruiting for an Estimator at the Cairns Doors Centre. You will prepare quotes and detailed orders for custom timber doors and frames, working with customers, suppliers and the wider team to support sales growth.

You will receive ongoing training to build skills and industry knowledge, with emphasis on accuracy, pricing, and timely delivery to customers across the Cairns region.

Qualifications

• Experience in building or construction, estimating, detailing and ordering timber products.
• Ability to read building plans, specifications and technical product information.
• Strong numeracy, analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Intermediate computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Clear communication and a strong customer service focus.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.
• A collaborative, hands-on approach with sound problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate quotes, material take-offs and Bills of Quantities from plans, specifications and customer requirements.
• Apply current pricing, supplier agreements, rebates and margins to ensure commercially sound estimates.
• Recommend suitable products and value-added alternatives.
• Follow up quotes, convert accepted quotes to orders and support sales growth.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, fulfilment and transport teams from quote through to delivery.
• Keep customers informed of timelines, changes or delays.
• Check quotes, orders, invoices and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Build strong customer relationships and work collaboratively across the branch.
• Follow safety requirements and contribute to continuous process improvements.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our Cairns Doors Centre as an Estimator, preparing quotes and detailed orders for custom timber doors and frames. You’ll work closely with customers, suppliers, sales representatives and the wider team, with ongoing training to build your skills and industry knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Experience in building or construction, ideally in estimating, detailing and ordering timber products.
• Ability to read building plans, specifications and technical product information.
• Strong numeracy, analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Intermediate computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Clear communication and a strong customer service focus.
